Masaryk Railway Station is undergoing the greatest transformation in its entire 175-year history. The modernisation and extension of the station forms part of the extensive reconstruction of the Prague – Airport – Kladno railway line, which upon completion will offer not only greater passenger capacity but also new areas for recreation and services. What currently serves 30,000 passengers a day is set to become a major transport hub.
The key element is a new platform spanning the tracks. It will shorten access to the platforms, connect the area between the main station and Florenc, and provide passengers with a comfortable hall offering direct access to trains via escalators, lifts and staircases.

The platform also incorporates a green roof – a relaxation zone in the city centre featuring trees, water elements and a playground. Photovoltaic panels integrated into the glazed canopy will generate energy for lighting and information systems. Harvested rainwater will be used to irrigate the proposed planting.
Our studio contributed to the overall architectural and material concept, the design of the track canopy, the bridge structure, platforms and shelters. We coordinated the project with the surrounding developments – the new Masaryčka building, the revitalisation of Na Florenci street, and the reconstruction of the adjacent square and The Cloud One hotel, to which the platform is linked by a pedestrian bridge.
