Churchill 1

Churchill I is a modern office building on the boundary between Prague's Žižkov and New Town districts, in close proximity to the Main Railway Station, transforming a formerly neglected brownfield site into an attractive working environment.

The office building has an S-shaped floor plan, which lends itself to the efficient use of a complicated plot. This form also gives the building two atria – one serving as an entrance courtyard on Italská Street and the other as a reception and café with views of the city centre.
The building envelope dynamically alternates its rhythm, using playful compositional elements to either accentuate or, in places, loosen and lighten the massing. The simplicity and restraint of the façade detailing is offset by the generosity and unconventional treatment of the façade and volumetric composition as a whole.
