Ruzyně

The transformation of a former complex of warehouse buildings introduces a new vision of the urban environment.

In place of today's disused plots, a vibrant residential quarter will emerge, based on a system of semi-enclosed blocks with a rich hierarchy of public and private spaces. Thanks to an active ground floor with shops, services and educational facilities, the locality has the potential to become a local centre embodying the principles and qualities of sustainable urbanism.

The basic massing concept follows the principle of positioning buildings with the greatest number of storeys and corner landmarks towards the central transport spine of the site, while placing lower buildings adjacent to the existing development. This creates a gentle gradient in height towards the centre of the site.
The proposed transformation also fundamentally improves permeability across the area, providing convenient access to Divoká Šárka and Obora Hvězda for both the new and existing neighbourhoods.

The architectural treatment of the individual residential buildings will be determined through a separate workshop.
